Building on a tradition of ingenuity, passion and particular attention to its customers since many years, the company has embarked on the shift towards electrification of its vehicles. Today BRP is looking for an electrical engineer to support her many projects.

1. Tasks and responsibilities

  • Collaborate with suppliers in the development of electrical and electronic components as well as in the determination of deadlines and standards to be respected;
  • Collaborate with the design, production, purchasing, quality assurance and manufacturing engineering teams;
  • Solve production and network issues and follow up with suppliers.
  • Develop control and diagnostic functions for electronic management modules
  • Develop specifications and specifications supporting calls for tenders to suppliers of electrical and electronic equipment;
  • Develop and execute the test plans necessary for the validation of technical solutions while taking into account established norms and standards;
  • Guide the work of technicians / directors in order to meet development objectives;
  • Possess an understanding and a capacity to integrate electrical, electronic, software and mechanical principles between them;

2. Desired qualifications

  • You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering;
  • You have one to three years of relevant experience;
  • You master French and English, both oral and written (essential skill);
  • You understand and know how to combine electrical, electronic, software and mechanical principles;
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex problems, creativity and ability to innovate;
  • Manual and motor dexterity to perform electrical repairs and physical tests;
  • You can analyze and solve complex problems, and you demonstrate creativity and a spirit of innovation;
  • You are comfortable in an environment where technical solutions are not known, where the path is not mapped out and where you have to use predictive analysis methods;
  • You have a great sense of organization, loneliness, interpersonal skills and a good capacity for autonomy;
  • You have a strong interest in driving and vehicle design;
  • You are able to manage several projects at the same time;
  • You can travel occasionally.

  • As a member of the engineering team, your main mandate will be to study, design and develop various electrical and mechatronic systems for a vehicle. You will also be responsible for:
  • Perform calculations, analyzes and validations of different parts and / or groups of parts of one or more systems;
  • Calibrate the mechatronics functions on the vehicles;
  • Develop control and diagnostic functions for electronic management modules;

  • You detain a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, automated production engineering or a specialization in mechatronics;
  • You have one (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience;
  • You demonstrate essential bilingualism both oral and written (French / English).
  • You possess an understanding and ability to integrate electrical, electronic, software and mechanical principles with each other;
  • You master the integration of multiple vehicle mechatronics components into one vehicle system
  • You have the ability to analyze and solve complex problems, creativity and ability to innovate;
  • You will be comfortable in an environment where technical solutions are not known, where the path is not traced and with the use of predictive analysis methods;
  • You possess good organization skills, interpersonal skills, and autonomy;
  • You demonstrate strong interest in driving and designing recreational & performance vehicles;

Job Summary

  • Define the technical requirements for auxiliary power systems and sub-systems based on internal requirements and customers, and you must ensure that they are consistent, complete and correct;
  • Design auxiliary power system architectures based on requirements and product portfolio;
  • Generate “Technical Requirements Documents (TRDs)” for auxiliary power suppliers;
  • Perform a technical evaluation of the proposals of auxiliary power suppliers;
  • Technically manage the auxiliary power supplier during all phases of the project (design, test, warranty)
  • Review auxiliary power supplier documentation in accordance with project process and requirements;
  • Evaluate auxiliary power system level tests for verification and validation.

Responsibilities

  • Estimate efforts to design and document electromechanical products;
  • Ensure that the cost of activities related to mechanical engineering respects the budget;
  • Plan and establish activities related to mechanical engineering;
  • Follow up on mechanical engineering as well as the monitoring of product costs;
  • Estimate the costs of mechanical products;
  • Analyze and assimilate technical specifications and standards;
  • Design and document electromechanical products: assembly drawings, diagrams, and supervise formatting;
  • Participate in design reviews of electromechanical products;
  • Check and approve the documentation of mechanical products (if technically competent to do so);
  • Provide support for obsolete products;
  • Define the necessary tests (routine and qualification) with the Engineer / Test Designer;
  • Validate the test equipment built with the Engineer / Test Designer and the Electrical Technician;
  • Offer support to our manufacturing sites and suppliers, remotely from Montreal or at the Plattsburgh, NY site;
  • Choose test facilities and enter requests;
  • Create requisitions for parts manufactured by suppliers or to obtain parts for manufacturing in-house;
  • Ensure all equipment required for testing has been calibrated;
  • Run the tests with or without the Engineer / Test Designer;
  • Write test reports;
  • Perform failure analyzes, including report and client presentations;
  • Make technical presentations to clients.

Training / Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or the equivalent recognized by the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with relevant experience;
  • Experience with auxiliary power systems;
  • Verifiable experience in leading the technical field of customer delivery projects;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  •  Excellent problem-solving skills;
  • English proficiency.
